Meaning in graphics work
Transit allowance is the time set aside for moving resources between relevant locations. It accounts for a planning interval rather than proving a completed journey.
It differs from a carrier's accepted delivery promise and from installation or turnaround time. The route, handling and service arrangement determine what allowance is useful.
Example and practical consequence
A programme using the same kit at two events needs to include packing, collection, travel and receiving constraints before the next installation can begin. A direct road-distance estimate leaves several of those steps unresolved.
Record the basis of the allowance and distinguish illustrative values from provider-confirmed service times. Include the movement interval in asset planning, and preserve actual departure and receipt separately. If conditions change, review affected commitments rather than allowing a revised allowance to overwrite what a carrier or supplier previously accepted.
