Meaning in graphics work
Stitching joins or finishes material with thread through a defined sewing construction. It can produce hems, pockets, edging attachments or seams in textile graphics.
It differs from welding, gluing or merely cutting an edge. Thread, stitch arrangement and material behaviour contribute to the complete finished graphic.
Example and practical consequence
A silicone-edge textile panel may need a specified edging sewn onto a cut print. The template and sewing allowance affect the installed image position and the fit in its frame.
Ask the provider to identify the intended seam, allowance and attachment configuration. Check finished dimensions and any visible or concealed seam areas before repeating a campaign. A generic instruction to sew edges leaves important fitting decisions unresolved, and a photographic preview cannot confirm the quality or suitability of the actual sewn assembly.
