Meaning in graphics work
A scoped token is a credential whose intended use is restricted by properties such as resource, action, audience, duration or permitted claims. Its scope needs validation by the receiving service.
It differs from a general session or an unrestricted secret. Possession of a token should not permit an unrelated object, tenant or operation merely because the format looks valid.
Example and practical consequence
A temporary guest-draft claim token may refer only to one draft and expire after a defined period. It should not allow claiming another visitor's data or approving a production file.
Check signature or issuer as applicable, intended audience and current scope at the actual operation. Keep tokens out of public logs, reports and copied browser drafts. An opaque local identifier is not automatically a secure credential, and an exported reference cannot create an authenticated grant without the real engine checks.
