Meaning in graphics work
A retractable display stores a flexible graphic within a mechanism or housing and extends it into a supported presentation position for use.
It differs from a fixed banner frame. The cassette, graphic attachment, support pole and visible area can all be model-specific even when systems look similar.
Example and practical consequence
An organisation replacing the message on an existing display needs the actual model, attachment instructions and finished graphic dimensions. Buying a generic banner print may leave the message partly concealed or unable to attach.
Record the housing and components as retained equipment, and the printed graphic as a separately replaceable item. Confirm mechanical condition, fitting and safe operation with the responsible provider. A planned refresh cannot establish that a stored mechanism is serviceable or that any film will suit it.
