Meaning in graphics work
A processing purpose explains why personal information is collected or used for a particular activity. It gives the responsible organisation a basis for limiting and explaining that use.
It differs from a broad statement that data may be useful. Using information to deliver an invited collaboration and using it for marketing are different purposes.
Example and practical consequence
A buyer entering an installer contact to coordinate access has not automatically enrolled that person in a newsletter. A programme export may need operational fields without needing the entire contact history.
Specify the purpose and relevant lawful handling before collection or reuse. Check any new use against the original context and current guidance rather than infer unlimited permission from registration or a directory appearance. Purpose clarity supports minimisation, access decisions and retention, allowing useful collaboration without silently turning every work record into a promotional audience.
