Meaning in graphics work
Process colour produces printed appearance through combinations of a printing process's colour components. In many conventional workflows this refers to cyan, magenta, yellow and black.
It differs from a separately specified spot ink. Device configurations vary, so a familiar component model does not establish the available colour range or output settings.
Example and practical consequence
A brand graphic may use process-colour photography and a specially managed logo target in the same job. A screen image using another colour model still needs an agreed conversion and output workflow.
Ask the provider for the required colour preparation and applicable profile rather than assigning generic values blindly. Keep the original source and review converted artwork. Process values alone cannot guarantee matching appearance on different substrates, finishes or devices, particularly when a sensitive brand colour is involved.
