Understand the construction
A multi-layer graphic assembly combines two or more distinct functional layers into the delivered graphic. These may include a printed face, adhesive, protective film, backing, core or attachment layer; each adds a role and a potential compatibility question.
For an installed campaign panel, follow the layers from the viewer through to the receiving surface. A design proof shows the visible message, while the assembly specification explains what supports, protects and attaches that message in the real job.
Specify the actual job
Create a layer-by-layer record naming the actual products, thicknesses where supplied, print treatment and joining methods. Include release liners or transfer materials in production records even when they are absent from the installed object. Identify which dimensions describe the face and which describe the assembled item.
Limits and evidence
Evidence for a single layer does not automatically describe the combined object. Bonding, coatings and a new substrate can change the scope of durability, fire, cleaning and recovery statements. Do not label the assembly mono-material merely because one visually dominant layer has a familiar material name.
Request documentation for critical products and the provider's supported combination. Check that any assembly-level evidence actually matches the proposed construction and use. Identify information gaps for layer composition, compatibility and separation instead of smoothing them into one confident catalogue description.
Next useful action
Use the disassembly planner to show whether each join can be undone and which components remain bonded. Export the resulting material board with evidence links and explicit open questions so production and future recovery decisions share the same construction record.
