The skill and its purpose
A network role describes what a person or organisation can contribute and which decisions they are authorised to make. It is not a universal endorsement, verified competence or permission to see every project. A printer, installer, agency, manufacturer and reviewer can have different scopes, and one organisation may hold several roles. Separate declared capability from checked evidence and actual project allocation.
Work through the decision
List the services or contributions the organisation actually provides. Record the applicable scope, locations, current evidence and relevant limitations. Identify which profile information may be public and which belongs to a selected project relationship. Keep review and fulfilment roles distinct where their responsibilities differ. Update the role when capability or authority changes rather than letting an old profile imply present availability or approval.
Practical exercise — fictional
A fictional company produces graphics and sometimes coordinates installation through another contractor. Draft two role descriptions showing its own production capability and the separately proposed coordination responsibility. Explain why this does not make the company the actual installer for every job or establish that its current capacity is available for a new date.
Take it to the next job
- Describe actual services and limitations.
- Separate declarations from verified evidence.
- Identify public and private profile fields.
- Confirm project authority and dated capacity separately.
Try the decision
The exercise stays in this session unless you choose to save it.
