The skill and its purpose
Closing an event should make the next plan easier without carrying old assumptions forward as current facts. The frame can remain useful while messaging, venue conditions, provider availability and handling needs change. Retained equipment knowledge should stay linked to actual inspections and component identities. A new campaign needs its own purpose, dates, geometry and acceptance rather than an inherited “ready” label.
Work through the decision
Reconcile returned items and record current condition, location and outstanding repair. Retire expired artwork deliberately while retaining its version history where needed. Create the next-use draft from reusable structure, then require current application data and a fresh availability check. Highlight carried-over assumptions for review. Export lessons tied to observed events so another coordinator can use them without accessing private customer or financial details.
Practical exercise — fictional
A fictional team plans to reuse its display frame at a smaller autumn event after a spring exhibition. Draft the next-use record with the same asset identity but new venue, dates and message. Identify what can be retained from the inspected frame record and what needs new confirmation. Add one observed packing improvement without claiming an unmeasured environmental saving.
Take it to the next job
- Reconcile actual returns and current condition.
- Keep stable asset references and useful history.
- Require current dates, message and application.
- Review carried-over assumptions explicitly.
Try the decision
The exercise stays in this session unless you choose to save it.
