The skill and its purpose
Completion is not one universal milestone. A parcel can be delivered without its contents being reconciled, a graphic can be installed without final acceptance, and a planned installation date can pass without the work happening. Distinguishing those events keeps the rollout record useful for the customer and next coordinator. Each status should reflect attributable evidence within its actual scope.
Work through the decision
Record what left, what arrived, what was installed and what the authorised person accepted. Link evidence to the site, quantity, variant and exact version where relevant. Describe discrepancies and conditions with an owner rather than marking the whole site complete. Retain the original event record when a later correction or acceptance resolves the issue, and limit shared photographs to material you have permission to use.
Practical exercise — fictional
A fictional Site D receives two panels but installs only one because the second fixture is unavailable. Draft the receipt record, partial installation record and unresolved action. Explain why “delivered” can be accurate while “installation accepted” remains unconfirmed. Identify the evidence needed to close the remaining site task.
Take it to the next job
- Separate dispatch, receipt, installation and acceptance.
- Link evidence to site, variant and quantity.
- Record partial completion and conditions precisely.
- Keep unresolved actions and responsible owners.
Try the decision
The exercise stays in this session unless you choose to save it.
