Meaning in graphics work
Least privilege means giving a person or process only the permissions needed for its defined work. It reduces unnecessary exposure and limits the effect of mistakes or compromise.
It differs from making every action inconvenient or granting nothing useful. The goal is a precise task scope rather than blanket access through a familiar account.
Example and practical consequence
A supplier responding to a selected RFQ needs the shared requirements, not the buyer's entire client history or competing quotes. A background export job needs the permitted data selection, not unrestricted administrative power.
Define the intended action, records and duration, then enforce the relevant grants. Review permissions as work changes and keep secret references out of public outputs. Useful collaboration remains possible when access is deliberately scoped; broad operator ownership or an automated assistant's convenience does not justify bypassing those boundaries.
Take it to the next job
- Give each collaborator or process the narrow scope its task requires.
