Understand the construction
Grommet and eyelet attachments use fitted openings or hardware in a graphic to accept a fixing or tie arrangement. The hardware, reinforced edge, graphic media and supporting structure form a complete attachment system whose design needs explicit assessment.
For a banner, map the actual fixing positions and support rather than specifying a generic series of holes. The fabricator needs the finished edge construction, while the installer needs to know how attachment forces are transferred and how the graphic can be safely reached.
Specify the actual job
Specify the media, hardware, hole locations, edge or reinforcement arrangement and permitted fixing method. Ask the provider to assess the proposed placement and exposure. Where the sign is outdoors, suspended or near the public, assign relevant loading and support decisions to competent responsible parties.
Limits and evidence
An eyelet is not a universal guarantee against tearing or a substitute for a safe installation design. Adding more holes does not automatically settle loading, edge condition or support. Different hardware and reinforcement combinations can create different removal and separation questions.
Review the fabricator's media and finishing information and the installer's complete attachment proposal. Keep any load or performance evidence tied to that design and intended conditions. A visible sample can show workmanship, but it cannot prove every proposed field installation is suitable.
Next useful action
Use installation readiness to record the agreed attachment drawing, responsible installer and access requirements. Include checks for damaged edges and hardware in maintenance planning, then identify how fixings are removed at the actual campaign end.
Take it to the next job
