Meaning in graphics work
An eyelet is a reinforced opening or fitting around a hole used for an agreed attachment. The term's exact hardware meaning varies between suppliers and applications.
It is often discussed alongside grommet, but the names alone do not establish interchangeable dimensions, materials or assembly arrangements. Specify the actual component rather than relying on terminology.
Example and practical consequence
A flexible banner may attach through reinforced openings positioned around its edge. The installer needs to know hole location, compatible fastening and any requirements for the supporting edge construction.
Confirm the fitting dimensions, spacing and intended attachment method with the provider. Have the responsible installer assess loads and support rather than assuming that additional holes make a graphic safe. Preserve the attachment layout with the file version so later reprints do not inherit an unsuitable historical pattern.
