Meaning in graphics work
Escalation routes an unresolved issue to a person or role with the responsibility or authority to decide what happens next. It is a controlled response to a defined condition.
It differs from sending more messages to everyone. An escalation needs a reason, relevant evidence and an agreed route rather than a louder version of an existing reminder.
Example and practical consequence
A production release blocked by contradictory proof decisions might need the actual approval owner. A late delivery discrepancy might instead need the provider's operational contact and the buyer's responsible project lead.
Record the trigger, required decision and time-sensitive consequence. Preserve the original issue and any actions already attempted so the recipient can act without reconstructing the history. Escalation cannot expand the sender's authority or allow an automated assistant to accept a contract, spend or physical outcome on another party's behalf.
Take it to the next job
