Meaning in graphics work
A data export produces an identified selection of records in a usable form outside their current interface. Its scope and format determine whether another authorised user or system can use it.
It differs from a screenshot, an indiscriminate database copy or a legal right to disclose every record. File payloads, relationships and version manifests may be needed alongside tabular metadata.
Example and practical consequence
A client leaving an agency may need its campaign graph, approved files and responsibilities while competing supplier quotations remain separately permissioned. An export should preserve the client's useful records without exposing another tenant's information.
Select fields and objects through the applicable grants and record what is included or excluded. Keep source rights and confidentiality with the contents. Test usability and restoration where continuity depends on them; a download button or archive file alone cannot establish that the permitted working record can be reconstructed independently.

- Inspect export scope, object payloads and relationships before relying on portability.
