A retailer changes local artwork without replacing fixtures

A fictional retailer retains its fixtures while separating a changed local graphic from the master artwork and a different branch template.

Fictional requirement

The fictional retailer Hazel Shelf plans replacement graphics for three locations. Branch North and Branch East use a confirmed fixture template with a final graphic size of one thousand by five hundred millimetres. Branch South has a different recorded attachment revision and no current fit confirmation. North also needs revised local opening text. These are invented exercise inputs, not a real retail rollout, manufacturer specification or claim of completed fixture reuse.

Separate the retained system

The planner gives each fixture an asset ID and each branch graphic a site variant ID. It records two replacement graphics for North and two for East, producing four graphics within their stated shared geometry. The rectangular area is one thousand times five hundred square millimetres, or half a square metre per graphic; four graphics therefore represent two square metres of displayed area. This arithmetic describes the fictional final rectangles only, excluding bleed, purchased-sheet waste, seams and production allowance.

Keep the South question open

South's nominal size looks similar, but its attachment revision differs. The planner does not include an unconfirmed South graphic in a supposedly interchangeable spare stock calculation. It asks the chosen provider for current geometry and template evidence, keeping the replacement specification unresolved. Retaining the physical fixture does not itself establish safe use, current condition or graphic fit. The exercise identifies which responsible person should confirm those questions rather than using the area calculation as compatibility evidence.

Review the local amendment

North's new opening text becomes a new artwork version for North. Its content owner reviews that exact variant, while East's version remains separate. The protected master branding and dimensions stay controlled; a local change outside those fields would require an explicit variation. The provider handover lists the correct site allocation and file identities. Earlier content review of the old North text is historical and cannot release the revised wording automatically.

Observed result and uncertainty

The observed result is four planned graphics, one independent local review and an unresolved South compatibility gate. No real installation, sales improvement or environmental saving is inferred. The common mistake would be treating every branch as identical because the fixtures have similar names. The next action is to obtain South's attributable fit response and current condition check, then add its confirmed quantity and version without reusing another branch's approval or silently changing an accepted provider package.

Take it to the next job

  • Separate retained fixtures from replacement graphic quantities.
  • Keep uncertain attachment revisions outside confirmed compatibility.
  • Review each changed local variant and exact provider package.
