Meaning in graphics work
An as-installed record describes what was actually installed at a site, including relevant versions, position, components and attributable observations. It represents achieved state rather than only intended design.
It differs from a proposed layout, dispatch receipt or customer acceptance. Photographs can support the record but may not establish every technical property or concealed detail.
Example and practical consequence
A campaign team might record which branch received a particular variant and where it was mounted. If the location changed during installation, the historical plan should remain distinguishable from the actual result.
Capture useful identifiers, date and the responsible recorder, with permitted visibility for photographs. Note deviations and unresolved defects rather than converting every completed task into a success claim. The record supports later maintenance and repeat campaigns but should not imply specialist approval beyond the actual checks and authority documented.
Take it to the next job
