Understand the construction
Aluminium composite panels combine aluminium facing layers with a different core. This is a family of multilayer products, not solid aluminium sheet, and the core, facing thicknesses and coatings are essential parts of the panel description.
For a mounted sign panel, decide why a composite construction is being proposed and how its edges will appear. The print may be direct or applied separately, while mounting, folded returns or a supporting frame may create further assembly requirements.
Specify the actual job
Identify the precise manufacturer, product and core construction, sheet thickness, facing finish and print workflow. Show the panel size, fabrication details and support design. Any required fire or structural evidence must address the relevant product and installed arrangement, not an aluminium-only description.
Limits and evidence
Do not infer that all aluminium composites have the same core, classification or application limits. A metal-facing appearance does not certify the panel for a building use. Added film, adhesives, backing and fixings also matter when considering maintenance, separation or recovery.
Review current product documentation with the fabricator and responsible site professional. Check whether the evidence offered describes the supplied grade and intended conditions. Keep environmental statements scoped to their supporting documents and confirm actual receiving-service acceptance for the assembled panel.
Next useful action
Use the material board to list the facings, core and applied graphic separately. Attach an installation drawing and request the missing product or assembly evidence before placing the panel in an approved production specification.
