Understand the construction
Adhesive-backed wallcovering is a printable or decorative wall medium supplied with an attachment layer. It combines face material, print treatment and adhesive with the receiving wall finish; the wall is an active part of the specification.
For a mural spanning a reception wall, inspect the substrate, paint condition, joints, fittings and permitted preparation. Decide how the message meets corners and interruptions, and whether the owner expects removal at a campaign date or a longer installation.
Specify the actual job
Specify the product, print process, wall finish, panel layout and seam method. Obtain the supplier's installation requirements, including how wall preparation and any recently applied finish are evaluated. Keep electrical fittings, access constraints and the owner's permission visible in the installation brief.
Limits and evidence
Do not assume adhesive-backed media will cover unstable paint, damp problems or unsuitable textures. A wallcovering's product data does not certify the wall, and a removable designation cannot guarantee removal without damage to every underlying finish or earlier treatment.
Ask the installer to assess the actual wall and propose a representative trial where suitability is uncertain. Review current application guidance and evidence for the finished construction required by the premises. Avoid transferring a test or rating from an unrelated bare material.
Next useful action
Create a surveyed panel plan and an installation readiness checklist with named owners for wall preparation, sample acceptance and removal arrangements. Resolve those items before treating the approved visual design as permission to install.
